Services are available to all full- and part-time University of Toronto students who have paid the appropriate incidental fees. Students must bring their student card and proof of valid health insurance coverage. Services are fully covered by OHIP, other provincial health insurance plans, or the University Health Insurance Plan (UHIP).

Summer Hours (July & August):

Students can self-refer, either by phone (416-978-8070), or in person, by coming to the service. Students will be scheduled for a 20-minute phone evaluation. We will require your student number and health card number (OHIP or other provincial insurance, or UHIP) to book the appointment.
During this evaluation, the counsellor/clinician will ask you a few questions so that they may direct you to the most appropriate resource option. CAPS offers individual and group counselling, as well as skill-building workshops. Students may be referred to any one of these resources, depending on the outcome of the assessment.
Please note that when you receive the call for your phone assessment, your phone may display either "UToronto" or "University of Toronto" with a phone number, or as "Blocked" with no phone number.

Please note: Effective January 7, 2013 our policy will change for any unpaid invoices resulting from short notice cancellations or a no show visit. From this date forward a hold will be placed on your Rosi account impacting access to your transcripts.
Students who make appointments, but do not keep them without giving at least 24-hours notice of cancellation, take away the opportunity for other students to access services. As well, there is a cost for unused time. There will be a charge of $45.00 for each missed appointment if 24 hours notice of cancellation is not given. Appointments can be cancelled by leaving a time-stamped voicemail, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by calling CAPS at 416-978-8070, and pressing 5.
Please note that cancellation/rescheduling of Monday appointments must be made by 4:30pm on Thursday. A $45 cancellation fee will be applied to appointments that are cancelled/rescheduled after 4:30pm on Thursday. Click here for more policies.
Students who need to request academic consideration for health reasons are required to have a University of Toronto Verification of Student Illness/Injury Form (previously Student Medical Certificate). It is the mandate of CAPS to provide all University of Toronto students with accessible and timely care. In order to fulfil this mandate in a time of increasing numbers of students requesting care, the service provides only short-term therapy. Should a student require ongoing, long-term treatment, we will assist him/her in finding the appropriate community resources(s).
